Questions
Why at the end of chapter 22 is there genealogy?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand this either. This was one of my questions. Where is Marcy when we need her? :)
DeleteEver read the Bible and think, "Our generation isn't really that messed up,"?
ReplyDeleteIn the last 24 hours I have found myself wanting to yell at the fathers of my faith. Abraham for taking another wife and having more heirs (chapter 25). And, Jacob for sleeping with his wives' maids and allowing Leah to tell him whom he would be sleeping with (chapter 30). And, then, yelling at Leah for saying, "God has rewarded me for giving my servant to my husband." (Genesis 30:18) REALLY!?!
Haha. I think, God recorded these people's hearts so it speaks to us more than just a news story. If God was recording their hearts to us and the whole story to their death we would see we are just as evil.
DeleteThere is a lot of sex in the Bible. Are conservatives reading the old testament? It is messed up.
I'm pretty sure most of them are not. Rumor has it one of the elderly ladies at our church is less than thrilled with all the O.T. related sermons lately.
DeleteAre these the same questions every week for discussion or do they change it up?
ReplyDeleteI wish I would hear kids with more names from the Bible. Then I would know how to pronounce them when reading them. :)
When are you reading your Bible? Are you reading to the boys? Are you reading with your husband?
What do you want to get out of reading the Bible in a year?
Why drew you to this discussion book?
Did you tell anyone at BSF you are attempting this?
It is the same questions week after week.
ReplyDeleteI really wish more people would join us. :-(
I am reading my Bible pretty much whenever I get a free moment. I have read some to the boys. Rick is not interested.
Initially, I had wanted to read through the Bible in a year because it was a challenge started at church. However, I didn't know we would be getting a reading plan and was in Lawrence and found this book and thought, "Well, it will give me a reading plan." Not realizing it was suppose to be read as a small group. Then, I got home and discovered our church had distributed a reading plan, but I had already started this reading plan and theirs is a lot different so I would have been behind.
No, I haven't told anyone at BSF about this book. I did tell them I was trying to read through the Bible in a year.
I want to be able to say I have read it from cover to cover. I have tried to read it from cover to cover before and gotten bogged down in Numbers and then stalled out shortly after Judges. There is still so much of the Bible I haven't read.
