  1. Found it interesting that Mark begins with Jesus' baptism.
Also, found it interesting that Herod said it was John the Baptist raised from the dead when he heard about Jesus. Why would he think that?
Finally, in my reading up through chapter 6, interesting that Mark comments that the disciples hearts were hardened when they saw Jesus walking on the water after feeding thousands with 5 loaves and 2 fish.

    1. I don't totally understand about John the Baptist either. Jesus says he is Elijah but John says he isn't Elijah.

John the Baptist had followers. Other people were raised from the dead. So he thought John the Baptist was a Godly man and that he was raised from the dead even though he didn't have his head?

Why did he harden their hearts? What was he trying to teach them?
The fish and bread does seem like a magic trick and less than walking on the water and calming the storm. They thought he was a ghost. I always think this is funny that they had ghost stories then. They can see Christ- God in human form- yet they are scared of a ghost, something that isn't even real.

  2. Mark 4 talks about 'all ears who hear' etc. It is basically saying the Bible is in code. Just because you can hear it doesn't mean you can understand it until you have faith first. What is perfectly clear to me isn't to someone else.

In Mark is also where Jesus makes the demons go into the pigs and they pigs run over the cliff. Then the townspeople send Jesus away. I would be so mad if this man made my pigs run over the cliff.

Jarvis daughter raised. He sent people way and told them not to tell what he had done. I often wish he was here to raise other people's children from the dead. I wonder how many woman this story has comforted.

It says he did not heal many people in Nazareth. He wanted the faith of others around to heal? He healed when they had faith.

He is just healing people all over the place. You can't even count how many people he is healing. No need for Mayo Clinic, just form a line and he will touch you-done. It is amazing how he uses our weak bodies to demonstrate how we have no control but he has total control.

    1. He said those in Nazareth wouldn't believe because He was from their and a prophet is not accepted in his hometown. So, yeah, there was no way their hearts were going to be softened so He didn't work there or even stay there for that matter.

He gives the test so YOU can pass.

    Christianity is DAILY.
Christianity is about controlling your thoughts. (*cough, cough* Jessica)

  4. Generations and generations. You are not saved just because your parents were saved. Jesus had no children but he had half siblings. You could be biologically related to Jesus through Mary. Why don't they have those genealogy records now?

I seriously want more people to name their kids from the Bible so I could learn how to say some of these names. I do know a little girl named Mara. It was fun to read that in Exodus so I knew where her name was in the Bible.

  5. I also wanted to specifically bring up Mark 12:18-25 because it says you are not married to your spouse in heaven. Mormons believe your marriage is sealed in heaven to my knowledge.

18 Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 19 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. 21 The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. 22 In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too. 23 At the resurrection[c] whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”

24 Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
